Data for Equity Funding Collaborative awards $400,000 to
bolster fair data practices

The Data for Equity Funding Collaborative, a partnership between the bi3 Fund, HealthPath Foundation of Ohio, and Interact for Health, has awarded $400,000 in grants to ten Greater Cincinnati nonprofit organizations. Each organization will receive a $40,000 grant over 18 months to strengthen its capacity to collect, analyze, and use data to promote fair, inclusive, and community-informed health outcomes.

While data and evaluation are often seen as neutral, they are shaped by the systems and perspectives behind them. When data truly reflects the lived experiences of all people—and includes their voices in the process—it can illuminate racial, economic, and geographic disparities in health and the root causes that perpetuate inequity.

“This investment helps our nonprofit community approach data collection in fair and thoughtful ways, which means we get more inclusive and accurate information, ultimately leading to work that drives healthier communities,” said Kiana Trabue, president of the HealthPath Foundation of Ohio.

Launched in 2023, the Data for Equity Funding Collaborative supported 31 organizations with $925,000 in total investments. In addition to funding, grantees receive training, technical assistance, and opportunities for shared learning. Outcomes from previous cohorts include a greater understanding of equitable and culturally responsive evaluation frameworks that prioritize community voice and strengthened community engagement practices.
